Jammu Kashmir Encounter: Two terrorists, including a self-proclaimed commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba, were killed in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday (June 3). Police officials said the anti-terrorism operation began at 11:45 pm on Sunday (June 2) when the Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with the army and paramilitary forces, cordoned off a house in the Nihama area of ​​​​Pulwama district after receiving intelligence about the presence of terrorists.

The encounter started at 7 am

According to the police officer, when the terrorists refused to surrender, an encounter started at 7 am on Monday with two terrorists, identified as Riyaz Dar alias Sathar and Raees Dar. He said that the anti-terrorism operation was supervised by Deputy Inspector General of Police (South Kashmir) Altaf Khan and during this precaution was taken to ensure that no civilian was harmed or killed.

Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist killed

According to the police, the firing intensified on Monday afternoon, after which the house in which both the terrorists were hiding caught fire. The operation was called off at 4 pm after the bodies of both the terrorists were recovered. Riyaz Dar had joined Lashkar-e-Taiba in 2014 and carried out incidents along with the slain Pakistani terrorists Abu Dujana and Abu Ismail. He had participated in many terrorist activities.

Both terrorists had a bounty of lakhs

Riyaz had a cash reward of over Rs 10 lakh on his head while Raees Dar had a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head. On May 7, the police had achieved a major success when it gunned down Basit Dar, a self-styled commander of the banned The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy group of Lashkar-e-Taiba. He and another terrorist Momin were killed in an encounter in Redwani village of Kulgam. Both were involved in 18 terrorism-related cases, including targeting of minorities and policemen.
